M23 IoT Security (TrustZone)

The NuMicro® M23 Family, developed by Nuvoton, is a range of secure microcontrollers focused on IoT security. Built on the Arm® Cortex®-M23 core and incorporating Arm® TrustZone® for Arm®v8-M architecture, the M2351 & M2354 series is the family designed for robust IoT security applications. TrustZone® technology divides memory and peripherals into secure and non-secure worlds, ensuring data integrity, firmware updates, and operational security. Furthermore, TrustZone® for Arm®v8-M enables fast and efficient context switching between secure and non-secure worlds by leveraging hardware transitions and power efficiency. Nuvoton's M23 Family supports the Arm® Platform Security Architecture (PSA), a comprehensive framework that includes threat models, security analyses, hardware and firmware architecture specifications, and an open-source firmware reference implementation. The PSA aims to provide a more cost-effective approach to building secure IoT devices, working seamlessly with TrustZone technology for Armv8-M. To facilitate the implementation of IoT security technology, Nuvoton has developed the Nuvoton Secure Microcontroller Platform (NuSMP). This platform combines hardware and software technology to help users meet the extensive security requirements of general-purpose and secure IoT microcontrollers. With NuSMP, developers can easily achieve secure services using the M2351 & M2354 series microcontrollers for Trusted Boot (Root of Trust), Secure OTA (Over-The-Air) firmware updates (including secure software downloads), Power management APIs for the non-secure world, and PC-side crypto-related development software tools.
