The W25X40CL is a 4M-bit Serial NOR Flash memory developed by Winbond, designed to provide a storage solution for systems with limited space, pins, and power requirements. This memory is part of the 25X product family, offering flexibility and performance beyond ordinary Serial Flash devices. It is ideal for code download applications, as well as storing voice, text, and data. The devices operate on a single 2.3V to 3.6V power supply, with low current consumption (1mA active and 1µA power-down) and are available in space-saving packages.

It supports SPI clock frequencies up to 104MHz, allowing for equivalent clock rates of 208MHz when using the Fast Read Dual Output instruction. These transfer rates are comparable to 8 and 16-bit parallel flash memories. The Continuous Read Mode ensures efficient memory access with minimal instruction overhead, allowing for true XIP (execute in place) operation.
