INTRODUCTION
The NuMicro® M251SD2AE is a part of the M251/M252 series developed by Nuvoton Technology and used as a platform for low-power microcontrollers. It is based on the Arm® Cortex®-M23 core, aligned with the Armv8-M architecture. With strong low-power technology and a programmable serial interface, M251SD2AE can run up to 48 MHz speed and supports a wide supply voltage range from 1.8V to 5.5V.
FUNCTION AND APPLICATIONS
The NuMicro® M251SD2AE Microcontroller was designed with a strong focus on low-power consumption, aiming to suit battery-powered IoT applications such as Smart Home Appliances, Industrial Control / Automation, Smart City, Security Alarm Systems, Electronic Payments, Communication Modules, Portable Wireless Data Collectors, Smart Door Locks, Handheld Medical Devices, GPS Location Trackers, and Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL). This device also integrates a Voltage Adjustable Interface (VAI) to save level shifter components, making it bi-directional for effective communication.
PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS
Built with a sophisticated 32-bit low-power microcontroller, the M251SD2AE stands out with its low power consumption mode. It functions at 138µA/MHz in Normal Run mode at 48 MHz, moving to 60 µA/MHz in Idle mode, 2.5 µA in Power down mode (with RTC on, and RAM retention), and a 1.7 µA Power down mode (RTC off, RAM retention). It is also equipped with 1-region programable eXecute-Only-Memory (XOM) to secure critical program codes.
PACKAGE TYPES, INTERFACE, AND PIN CONFIGURATION
In terms of packaging, the M251SD2AE is housed in an LQFP64 package type measuring 7mm x 7mm. The hardware boasts an abundance of interface options: UART, SPI, I2C, ISO-7816-3, QSPI and much more. It comes with 4 channels of PSIO, providing a range of communication options while reducing the computational load on the CPU.
RELIABILITY AND LIFESPAN
With an operating voltage range from 1.8V ~ 5.5V, and a wide operating temperature range from -40℃ ~ +105℃, the M251SD2AE is designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions, promising durable longevity for a multitude of applications. The low-power technology further enhances its reliability by efficiently managing power, extending battery life.
