Introduction
The NuMicro® M263SIAAE is a low-power microcontroller platform, designed by Nuvoton and based on Arm® Cortex®-M23 core for Armv8-M architecture. The platform is highly suitable for Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications due to its robust security and low power capabilities.
Function & Applications
The M263SIAAE runs up to 64 MHz with 512 Kbytes embedded Flash memory in dual bank mode supporting Over-The-Air ( OTA ) firmware update and 96 Kbytes embedded SRAM. This provides maximum efficiency in power usage, even for high-performance tasks. Its power modes include Power-down mode (PD), Fast Wake-up Power-down mode (FWPD), Low Leakage Power-down mode (LLPD), Ultra Low Leakage Power-down mode (ULLPD), Standby Power-down mode (SPD) and Deep Power-down mode (DPD). The microcontroller also offers secure boot functionality to provide a secure execution system on the device. The series also comes with a 4-region programmable eXecute-Only-Memory (XOM) to secure critical program codes and an AES 256 / 192 / 128 hardware accelerator for data encryption. These features make it suitable for a breadth of applications including Smart Home Appliance, IoT Device, Industrial Automation, Electronic Payments among others.
Performance Parameters
The M263SIAAE features excellent power management and low power consumption with 97 µA/MHz (LDO mode) and 45 µA/MHz (DC-DC mode) in normal run mode, and less than 2µA in Deep Power-down mode without VBAT. Additionally, with its diverse functional features such as timers, watchdog timers, RTC, PDMA, among others, the platform is able to handle a plethora of use cases and applications.
Package Types, Interface & Pin Configuration
The M263SIAAE offers a LQFP64 (7 mm x 7 mm) package type. Multiple interfaces are also available including UART, SPI, I2C, and a Secure Digital Host Controller (SDHC) compliant with SD Memory Card Specification Version 2.0, as well as a voltage adjustable interface (VAI) on up to 6 I/O pins.
Reliability & Lifespan
The M263SIAAE operates efficiently within a temperature range of - 40 ℃ ~ +105 ℃ and a voltage range of 1.8 V ~ 3.6 V, indicating its reliability in diverse environments. Furthermore, it includes features such as low voltage reset (LVR) and brown-out detector (BOD) which enhance device life and reliability in long-term applications.
Standards & Certifications
The M263SIAAE adheres to the Arm® Cortex®-M23 core standards for the Armv8-M architecture. Equipped with USB 2.0 Full Speed On-The-Go (OTG) transceiver, it complies with USB OTG Supplement 2.0. It also includes a CAN 2.0B controller, in compliance with commonly accepted networking standards.
Application Cases & Reference Designs
The device finds applications in several areas such as Smart Home Appliances, Industrial Automation, IoT devices, Electronic Payments among others. Nuvoton NuMaker M261 / M262 / M263 evaluation boards (NuMaker-M263KI) are available for product development, validating its use in multiple cases. Furthermore, 3rd Party IDEs such as Keil MDK, IAR EWARM, and NuEclipse IDE with GNU GCC compilers also offer substantial support for the development process.
